Representing our members who are employed by CenturyLink (formerly Virginia Telephone and Telegraph, Central Telephone Company of Virginia, Centel, Sprint, Embarq) in the Charlottesville, Farmville, Front Royal, Lexington, Luray and South Boston areas and Fairpoint employees in Gretna.
*According to Cary "Chubby" Walsh, a fifty-five year IBEW member, the bottom photo is without a doubt E.D. (Ennis) Haney, line crew foreman. The top photo may be Clarence Mawyer, but he is not sure. By dating the automobiles in the photos, it may be any time between 1940 and 1946 or a little later. Domestic automobile production essentially stopped during WWII with the last models being a few 1942s. It resumed in 1946. Chubby said that Fitz Payne told him of IBEW 1181 going on strike over the rain clause, and these photos may be from that strike.
